I am a retired pediatrician with a history of involvement in music throughout my life. After it was discovered that I had perfect pitch, my piano studies began at age four and continued for seventeen years, including four years at Bowdoin College. While at Bowdoin, I carried a music minor and was teaching piano to college students. I performed several solo concerts during my high school and college years, including winning a concerto competition. I also was a frequent accompanist for high school and college musicals and played in various popular rock bands. In addition to playing piano, I formed and conducted an a cappella choir that performed for twenty-five years and was noted in a New York Times article for its uniqueness in the United States.
Originally from Old Town, Maine, I returned to the Bangor area in 2019 with my wife in order to be closer to family members and grandchildren. Recently retired from a long career in Pediatrics, I have decided to return to my love for playing and teaching piano.
My teaching philosophy is geared towards providing a patient, supportive, enthusiastic and upbeat approach to learning and improving your skills at the keyboard. I will work on building your confidence and ability to play the music you love. I know you will be proud of your progress every week!
